We had basically ruled out our trip to Maine for Memorial Day Weekend because London had a bit of a rough week health wise. However, last Wednesday she started to turn a corner and by Thursday her bubbly little personality seemed to have had returned! When we woke on Friday, it was a spur of the moment decision to pack everything up and head north! I'm SO glad we did, because it was AH-MAZING. There's something about Maine and in particular, my parents camp, that makes me instantly more "at peace." Maybe it's because without cell service, there's no choice but to unplug and relax my mind...or maybe it's just reconnecting with family members, sharing laughs, playing games, making s'mores by the fire - that allows me to forget about the stresses of life for awhile. Whatever it is ... I love it.
My parents have a beautiful camp in Kokadjo, on First Roach Pond which is located 18 miles north of Greenville a.k.a the middle of nowhere Maine :) The air is fresh, the water pristine, and the wildlife plentiful! We almost always see a moose on our trip, and can count on seeing many rabbits and typically a fox or two! This was London's second visit to camp (the first, she was just 7 weeks old!), and she just made it even more special. She loved her boat ride with Grampy (he let her steer!), swinging in her own personal swing complete with a million dollar view, getting special treats from Grammy, and lots of attention from Aunt Lindsey! I enjoyed getting four full days with my husband, who is always so busy with work. It was lovely to steal away for a few days as a family.
Our Memorial Day Weekend was full of smiles, love, and new memories - and I hope you had a safe & beautiful weekend as well! Lots to come on SGL this week ... beauty, fashion, food + more!
