Statement Stripes...

HAPPY THURSDAY!

How's everybody's week going? It's been so beautiful and sunny the past few days and we are LOVING IT! I can't get enough of being outside with London and she loves exploring and collecting "all the things" a.k.a. rocks, sticks, and leaves. The 10-day forecast looks amazing and seems like we might have turned the corner on spring (FINALLY!) Do you guys have anything fun planned in the next few weeks? I love to hear everybody's spring activities!

Anyway, enough rambling and back to today's post ;) ...

I really into stripes right now and it's a good thing because they're super trendy this season! You can always count on J.Crew for classic striped pieces and their swimsuits are no different! I love the one-piece I'm wearing above which is modest, but also has a low plunge front to give it a little bit of an edge.

I found a few other striped one-pieces for you guys to check out and below those, I've linked some striped tops, dresses, shoes, and another swimsuit that I think are super cute for the warm months ahead!

Thanks for stopping by!

Travel Style...

This week I'll be sharing a few travel-related posts with you all, since we are heading to Charleston, SC! I'm SO excited and I've been researching places to go like a crazy woman! My husband's basketball team will be playing in their conference tournament there so since he'll be busy, we are flying my mom down to be with us! It will be our first time to Charleston and I'm so excited to explore such an incredibly historic and beautiful place!

I've started packing a bit (since it takes me forever to sort through what I need to bring) ... and the first order of business is planning a travel outfit! I always like to be comfy, but still fashionable. I've put together a few outfit ideas for you to check out below, and you can shop each outfit through the links below the graphic! Enjoy!

Contrast...

My Outfit: Jacket: J.Crew, similar here and here | Shirt: HM, similar here and here | Jeans: HM (under $20!) | Boots: Vince Camuto, similar here (under $50) here, and here | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Lipstick: Sephora "Always Red"

Happy Valentine's Day, Lovers!

I posted this outfit on my Instagram and wanted to share here also! I feel like we had such a mild winter up until this past week! We've had so much snow dumped on us here in Boston, and all I can think of is Spring! The snow, although annoying to manuever in, is so beautiful - especially after a fresh snowfall. I took these photos at my parents farm a few weeks ago with my favorite photographer, Patti Takacs (you can check out her site here!) I love the contrast between the white of the snow and the dark outfit/red lip! The red lip stain "Always Red" that you see me wearing is from Sephora and it's my absolute favorite! It's only $14 and it's so long-lasting. The jacket I actually stole from my mom for this shot (Thanks, Mom!) - it's J.Crew and classic wool blend. I linked a few look-a-likes above!

Pale Pink + Lace...

My Outfit: Cynthia Rowley, similar here and here | Jeans: Express | Booties: old, similar (and on sale) here  | Choker: LULO Jewelry | Purse: Nine West, couldn't find exact but love this adorable blush tote

Happy Monday!

How pretty is this pale pink and lace combo?! The sweater is actually all in one (sweater with an added lace layer) and I'm drawn to anything already layered so I don't have to think :) The purse was a steal from TJ Maxx ($24, Nine West) and I couldn't find the replica, but I linked a super cute blush tote with floral detailing here. I also thought I'd share some other pieces already layered for your convenience! You can shop them below!

Valentines Day Inspiration...

Yes, I'm already thinking about Valentines Day next month (I'm a girl, duh!) ;) February is one of my favorite months because it's all about LOVE, red, pink, and all things girly. My husband and I don't do anything crazy gift wise, we usually go to a nice dinner together instead - so I've started browsing for some VDay inspiration! I wanted to share some cute items with you all! Enjoy!

Cold Weather + Christmas Essentials...

Everything is so magical this time of year! Nothing makes me happier than snuggling up in my cozy gear. Christmas is the perfect time to sport your favorite festive holiday pajamas or scuff around the house in fluffy slippers and a bathrobe. Your outerwear can not only keep you warm, but it can be cute too! These Sorel boots are the BEST and super stylish. I love this cream and tan pair from J.Crew too! I have this North Face jacket and it's SO warm! I think this color is different + I love that it comes down long to shield my legs from these cold New England days.

You can shop more of my favorite "cold weather + Christmas" essentials below (including my favorite candle of the moment!) Also, in case you missed it, here's a holiday gift guide for the homebody, stocking stuffer ideas for her, and my style picks for your next holiday party!

Holiday Gift Guide: Beauty...

Beauty gifts make the BEST gifts because let's face it, make up, hair products, etc are expensive and a lot of us (me) don't always feel right spending $40 on under-eye concealer, even if it is magical + promises to cover up the dark circles underneath my eyes. With Christmas fast approaching, I've put together my list of the "top beauty buys" this season! You can also shop my "beauty must haves" here

If you're looking for cozy gifts my "homebody gift guide" is up! Also, stocking stuffers for her, boots/booties, and the Nordstrom home sale!

Back To Basics...

Hope you all had an awesome weekend! It's been busy in the Markwood household since my hubby's basketball team started their season! We love the energy that each new season brings, but it also means we will get less time together as a family which definitely makes it difficult. Thankfully, I have a little sidekick in London now and we're holding down the fort at home :)

This basic look is one of my favorites ... mostly because I love this comfy sweater so much! Also, the nude heels literally go with EVERYTHING; jeans, skirts, dresses ... they're my current go-to!

You can shop the entire look below + if you're looking for more fall favorites, shop here for comfy sweaters, boots, jackets, and more! Head to the "Shop My Instagram" page for even MORE style choices to shop!

Toddler Girl Fashion Must Haves...

It's been awhile since I shared our favorite pieces for your mini fashionista! We absolutely LOVE Cat and Jack from Target because it's so affordable - and since these babes grow so ridiculously fast, there's no need to break the bank trying to keep them stylish :) Of course, Baby Gap is another favorite place of ours and they have the cutest holiday outfits right now! I need to get London some warm weather gear, and I found this North Face hooded romper which would be perfect for walks during the colder, winter months! Here's another North Face option with thicker material. Below I've linked our favorite finds from Target, Baby Gap, and Nordstrom Baby! Click each photo to shop the item directly! Enjoy!

Stocking Stuffers For Her...

The holidays are fast approaching which means we'll all be scrambling on Christmas Eve to fill the stockings of our loved ones, am I right? To try and help you avoid that, I've picked some of my favorite stuffers that I think the lady in your life will LOVE! If you're ever wondering what makes a good stocking stuffer, head to Sephora or Ulta and you can't go wrong! They've got you covered from hair products and makeup to perfume and nail polish! Not to mention, Sephora has adorable holiday gift sets which always have a little something for everyone! I love this "Light It Up" Lipstick gift set comes with SIX different shades of Smashbox lip color for just $29 ($117 value!). I also think your lady would like this sugar body scrub and Argan oil body butter with a warm apple cider scent! (Umm, yum!) If you're totally overwhelmed with all this beauty stuff - just go for a gift card and you can never go wrong!

Jewelry is always a good idea for stockings! BaubleBar has some really cute items that aren't crazy expensive - but super trendy! This ring is so cute and this pendant necklace is really popular right now!

Perfume is always a welcomed gift and some yummy scents right now are: Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle,  Versace Bright Crystal (which I have, and love!), and Chloe Eau de Parfum.

If you've got a mom in your life, this mama tee is so cute + one of my favorites! You can click on any of the above photos to shop directly! I tried to choose a variety of items that I know will make great stocking stuffers! What are some of your favorite things to receive in your stockings?

Ashley

How To Transition From Day To Date...

Transitioning out of "mommy mode" can be easy if you choose pieces that can be dressed up or easily dressed down. It's so important for me to be comfortable while I'm chasing London around! There's absolutely no way you'll catch me in heels during the day, but it is definitely fun to plan a date night for an excuse to dress up :)

This sweater from Zara is super roomy and comfortable but can totally transform into the perfect evening top if paired with a embellished necklace like this one from BaubleBar and a blazer! Black jeans can always be dressed up by just changing your footwear. I love my Nike Rosche's because they're literally like wearing slippers, but my Pour la Victoire tie-heels are perfect for a night out + they're less than $65 right now! I also switched from a cross body bag (since you need both hands with a toddler!) to a dressier bag like this Kate Spade one. You can take it or leave it with the hat ... Personally I think it makes the outfit complete and I like this one from Asos which is less than $35!

You can see my complete outfit details for each look below!

xx,

Ashley

"Day" Outfit: Sweater: Zara, similar here and here | Jeans: HM | Crossbody: B.Makowsky, old but love this one | Sneakers: Nike Roshe, similar here

"Date" Outfit: Hat: Jack + Lucy, similar here | Sweater: Zara, similar here and here | Jeans: HM ,(under $20!) | Purse: Kate Spade New York, less expensive version here | Shoes: Pour la Victoire, and in gold here under $50!

For just 3 days only, Shopbop is offering up to 40% off on select styles! This Free People sweater is under $30 (marked down 80%) and it's a hot color too! I'm also loving this black endless rose sweater - the embellishment is so dreamy, and super "in" right now! Also, how amazing is the slouchy cardigan with leather detail? I LOVE the hood - and the price is right too :)

Weekly Style Roundup...

Happy Weekend, Everyone!

It's been a busy week for me and for SGL ... with a few fashion posts that I definitely don't want you guys to miss out on. I've consolidated them all here for your convenience, because who has time to search for anything these days ;) I'm super into the olympics right now, which is why I'm extra tired - I CAN'T STOP WATCHING! They're on so late, and even though I tape it, I always seem to get sucked in. Anyway ... I was inspired by Team USA so I chose my favorite RED, WHITE + BLUE wardrobe pieces and you can (and should) shop them here

The color black seems to take over my closet and now I'm into pairing everything with white. I just love the contrast between the two colors. I wanted to share some of my favorite things BLACK + WHITE ... shop them here

Lastly, I've discovered that I really need some new bags in my life ... (aside from the ones that are directly below my eyes!) I am usually annoyed by having to switch purses all the time - but I do appreciate a nice bag that can pull my entire outfit together. Here are some of my favorites...
