Stocking Stuffer Ideas!

10 days until Christmas....Who's getting excited?! This girl is right here! I am frantically trying to finish the last of our shopping and tie up loose ends, which include...gathering stocking stuffers for my guy. I LOVE digging through my stocking every year - it's so fun! I'm here to provide some ideas for stockings...most are unisex, some are not - and I think you'll be able to figure those out!
1. Gift cards - $10 Starbucks or iTunes gift cards are always a good idea!
2. Nail polish - They have the cute mini ones you can buy and throw in
3. Bobby-pins/Hair Ties - Let's be honest, we all need them! They'll be gone in less than a month's time because they always mysteriously disappear, but it's a good thought just the same
4. Magazines - I love a good US Weekly or Shape! mag. For Chris, I usually get him the Men's Fitness or Men's Health and he loves it
5. Candles - Anyone can use these...
6. Deoderant - Sometimes the practical stuffers are the best stuffers. I love getting this in my stocking because it means one less thing I have to remember to buy at the store
7. Body lotion- Again, always a great practical stuffer! You can get the cute mini lotion to keep in the purse, or go big with the normal size lotion for home - either way, it's a good look.
8. Candy - Since I'm married to Willy Wonka, this is a MUST for stockings in our house. Any candy will do...just have to have lots of it :)
9. Chapstick - Perfect time of year for a new tube, isn't it? It's dry, cold and the lips are usually in need of some TLC right about now
10. Coffee mug - Chris has mentioned a few times that he needs a travel mug for his coffee...soooo, I figured this would be a great stuffer (I hope he doesn't read this!)

Party Perfect Sangria!

Well, the holiday season is here and so is the time to feature my favorite party drink! I love a good red sangria, and my brother's girlfriend makes a GREAT one! It's "perfect" because you CAN'T mess it up. You CAN dress it up by adding oranges slices, limes, cranberries, and pomegranates to give it some visual flare!
What you'll need:

- 1 large pitcher

- Red or white wine (or both!)

- Triple sec

- orange juice (cranberry and other juices work too!)

- club soda or ginger ale

- 1-2 T sugar (optional to taste)

- oranges, cranberries, pomegranates, limes

Directions: Combine entire bottle of wine, 1/3 bottle of Triple Sec, 1/3 bottle of orange juice, juice of some of the fruit (optional) and sliced fruit. Stir and taste to desire sweet or tartness! Add soda just before serving and enjoy over ice!

*This recipe can be doubled, tripled, or whatever you would like, and substitutions always work!

Cheers & Enjoy!

Weekends Are For Baking!

It was a blueberry muffin kind of morning! I had the Christmas tree lights on, music playing, candles lit - and just awaiting the arrival of my parents and sister. My sweet mother forgot her GPS at home, so they are using map quest... Lord help them!
I decided to have some homemade muffins set for when they got here - blueberry muffins are my Dad's fave! Here is the recipe we have been using for years...straight from Betty Crocker herself :)

3/4 c milk

1 large egg

1/4 c vegetable oil

2 c flour

1/2 c sugar

1/2 tsp salt

2 tsp baking powder

1 cup frozen or fresh blueberries

Directions: Preheat over to 400 degrees. In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, oil, and egg. Add the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder all together and stir. Add blueberries. Bake for 20-25 minutes (I set for 18, and check them then! They were perfect with 20). Serve warm with butter and enjoy!

*Note: batter will be lumpy :)

Holiday Style Finds!

It's that time of year where the Christmas parties and holiday gatherings are in full swing! The beautiful part of living in New England, is being able to bundle up and accessorize with things like hats, scarves, patterned tights, and festive headbands. I thought I would highlight a few fashion pieces that are "must-haves" for this season!
*Check out my "lookbook" at the bottom of the page!

1. "Cape" Dress

This is the dress trend that all of the celebrities are rocking right now. The look is so effortless and chic...and I think you can sexy it up with some a pair of high boots (like Dakota Fanning did here!) Also, shop Nasty Gal, for the affordable Catherine Cape ($88)

The Wildflower Shop is great for holiday shopping and right now, everything is 20% off! My two favorite sweaters are: Haper Ribbed V Neck and the Kellinda Chunky Knit.

DIY Holiday Body Scrub!

With the holidays fast approaching, I've been researching some DIY projects I can create and give as gifts to my loved ones. Of course, Pinterest is my favorite website to find ideas...there are THOUSANDS! I came across this festive gingerbread body scrub and thought I would give it a try at home before giving as a gift. I was really happy with how it came out, the consistency was perfect and the smell - DIVINE! Who doesn't love gingerbread? All you'll need is a mason jar, red ribbon to tie around the lid, and a label (which you can create right on the computer!) You will probably have a lot of the ingredients needed for this scrub, already in your kitchen! This recipe makes about 2.5 cups of sugar scrub - so probably good for just about 3 jars!

1 cup sugar

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup coconut oil

1/4 cup almond oil

1/2 tsp vanilla

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp all spice

1/2 tsp ginger

1/2 tsp nutmeg

Directions: In a medium sized bowl, mix all ingredients together except the oils. Gradually add the oils until scrub reaches desired consistency. Scoop gingerbread scrub into a mason jar and add a bow and label!
