I've be racking my brain for a few months trying to figure out what I'm going to do for Father's Day! It's Chris's first one, so I feel some added pressure to really make it memorable and extra special! We are just getting back from vacation, and then celebrating our wedding anniversary, so I also can't break the bank either. I've done some research and wanted to share some tips + ideas on how you can spoil your baby daddy this Father's Day!
1. Let him sleep in.
It may sound silly, but it's a small thing that could go a long way. Why not suggest that your hubby stay in bed while you handle the little one(s) that morning, and maybe even throw in some breakfast in bed! A scone + some coffee never hurt nobody!
2. Plan an "at home" date night.
You can never go wrong when food is included in your gift, so create a menu, grab a bottle of wine for the table, and make a yummy 3-course homemade meal! Post-dessert, maybe have a movie picked out to watch - something that you know he'll like, and maybe you won't (to show that you're realllllly making it about him;)
3. Scavenger hunt.
I've thought of sending Chris on a little hunt to some of our favorite spots in Boston like Georgetown Cupcake, Mike + Patty's (best breakfast sandwiches), our old apartment in Bay Village, etc and have clues waiting for him at each place. It's a fun way and exciting way to relive some amazing memories!
4. DIY Cornhole Boards.
Feeling handy? This is such a good idea and a fun summer game for you to play together! You can order boards off of Etsy here, and just leave them as is with stain, OR get super creative and paint the boards with something that's meaningful to you both! I'm actually doing this for Chris (so hopefully he's not reading this!)...and I'm going to try to tap into my artistic side!
5. Pick him out a nice cologne.
This is always a good gift! I know my guy loves to have a few different scents depending on where we are going or how he's feeling (haha!) I don't think you can go wrong with a sexy smelling cologne! Chris's favorite is: YSL L'Homme
6. Get him a watch.
Another "go to" gift! Nike has really awesome watches for the sporty type, + Chris loved this Michael Kors watch I got him for his birthday last December! For something a little less expensive, but still super sleek, try this Komono watch.
7. Summertime sunnies.
Summer is here and it may be a good time to snag your man a new pair of sunglasses! Chris can be a bit picky when it comes to his sunnies, so I usually let him choose, but this could be a good gift to kick-off the summer season! I love this black Versace pair + you can't go wrong with Ralph Lauren...ever.
8. The gift of time.
Plan a whole day to do whatever it is your baby daddy wants to do! He can choose where to go for brunch, what to do with the 11am-1pm window between Lo's naps (ha!), and what he'd like you to cook for dinner! You can do this in addition to one of the gifts above (perhaps the cologne, watch or sunnies) and you're planning is complete!
9. Plan a quick getaway.
Set up the babysitter. Book a room. Make dinner reservations, or plan on seeing a movie, play, comedian he likes, etc., and whisk him away for a spontaneous adventure! I LOVE surprises...so this would be a dream; and who doesn't like a night of relaxation + to reconnect?! As much as we adore our kiddos, a quickie getaway is usually refreshing for the soul!
10. Tell him with a card.
Chris and I love writing cards and notes to each other. It's such a simple way to articulate how we truly feel and I know it always gives me the warm + fuzzies ;) I will have no problem telling that one below just how much he means to us. He's everything a Father should be and MORE; loving, patient, compassionate, "hands on," playful, silly, and dedicated. I can tell he cares about giving London his best at all times ... and as a mother, that's all I can ask for. He's too good to us, and sometimes (all the time) I wonder how we got so lucky. If you're reading this babe, we love you to the moon + back ... and then some! xx - your girls
